Psychological first aid for health sector workers

Project funded by the Centre de recherche de l’Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal and the Centre de recherche Jeunes en difficulté

This project aims to develop and implement a procedure for the care of health and social services workers exposed to traumatic events in the workplace. This procedure will be based on the Psychological First Aid (PFA) approach. Thus, as a first step, it will be necessary to adapt the PFAto the needs and realities of health and social services. In a second step, the objective is to evaluate the effectiveness of the PFA. To do this, we will evaluate the evolution of the symptoms of acute stress, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, depression and absenteeism at work 30 to 60 days after the traumatic event.
