Integration of a digital tool into practice at CAVAC Montreal: training, evaluation, and adaptation for victims of crime.

In partnership with the Quebec Ministry of Justice’s support program for victims of crime, which aims to assist victims and foster their recovery.

Victims of crime in Quebec face a range of psychological, social, and legal challenges that require coordinated psychosocial intervention to promote resilience. The Montreal Crime Victims Assistance Centre (CAVAC)—like all CAVACs across Quebec—plays a pivotal role in supporting those who have been victims of a crime, providing psychological and informational support as well as assistance navigating the judicial process. However, due to budget cuts (St-Yves, A., September 11, 2025), many victims face increasingly long waits before receiving specialized care following CAVAC services; they also lack access to practical self-management tools to help them regulate symptoms of anxiety, post-traumatic stress, or psychological distress.

This partnership project aims to strengthen the support provided to crime victims in Quebec by collaborating closely with the Montreal CAVAC to enhance intervention practices through the integration of a digital self-care tool for managing post-traumatic stress reactions.
