One year to the day after being the victim of robbery and assault, Brigitte returned to the scene of her victimization. She shares her impressions with us and gives us the privilege of reliving this trying moment with her. On August 31, 2011, at approximately 3:45 P.M., Brigitte was attacked on Firestone Boulevard, at the turn of a roundabout leading to the Joliette shopping centre.
The attacker arrived from behind and entered Brigitte’s car on the passenger side. He kidnapped her and injured her. She managed to get out of her car and the assailant escaped with the vehicle.
In October 2011, Brigitte successfully completed cognitive-behavioural therapy. She is doing very well today and is proud of what she has accomplished.
Note: In the video capsule, starting at 2 minutes 48 seconds, Brigitte, sitting in her car, mentions that she is not feeling well and that she would like to “turn back around”. Then she turns around to look behind her, checking to see if she is in danger, if there is an attacker near her car. This procedure reveals hypervigilance, a symptom frequently present in people suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.
